ConnectWise and Proofpoint Unveil AI-Powered Email Security for MSPs

ConnectWise has joined forces with Proofpoint to deliver an AI-driven email security and training solution aimed squarely at the managed service provider (MSP) ecosystem. The new offering, ConnectWise Email Security and Security Awareness Training with Proofpoint, integrates directly into the ConnectWise Asio platform to help IT teams safeguard clients against one of the most persistent cyberattack vectors: email.

The launch comes at a time when email remains the front line of cybercrime. Analysts estimate that nine out of ten successful intrusions begin with a phishing message, often laced with a malicious link. ConnectWise says the new solution will give MSPs centralized visibility across customer environments, streamlined automation for incident response, and built-in tools to strengthen security awareness inside client organizations.

Raising the Bar for SMB Defense

The partnership with Proofpoint is a significant play for the small and midsized business market, which often lacks enterprise-class defenses despite facing the same attack methods. Proofpoint, a recognized leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Email Security Platforms, brings its Advanced Threat Protection engine to the table. The system detects phishing, malware, ransomware, and business email compromise attempts, while also policing outbound traffic to prevent data leaks.

One highlight is Modern URL Defense, a feature designed to neutralize malicious links before a user clicks, addressing a major source of credential theft. The platform also integrates compliance checks, giving MSPs tools to automatically stop sensitive data from leaving corporate systems in violation of privacy laws.

“ConnectWise Email Security and Security Awareness Training with Proofpoint represents a game-changing partnership that delivers enterprise-grade email protection through our unified Asio platform,” said Manny Rivelo, CEO of ConnectWise. “This isn't just another security tool, it's a force multiplier for MSPs. By seamlessly integrating Proofpoint's industry-leading threat intelligence with ConnectWise automation, we're eliminating operational complexity and amplifying MSPs' ability to defend against sophisticated email attacks.”

Designed for MSP Economics

Beyond security, ConnectWise is positioning the product as a business accelerator for service providers. The integration allows MSPs to clone security profiles across multiple tenants, slashing deployment time and reducing operational friction. ConnectWise says this efficiency can translate into new revenue streams by making enterprise-grade defenses more accessible to SMB customers who increasingly demand higher standards from their technology partners.

Operational overhead is another target. By embedding the toolset directly into the Asio platform, MSPs can manage client protections from a single console, avoiding the cost of juggling multiple systems. Automation handles much of the repetitive threat response, freeing staff to focus on higher-value services.

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with ConnectWise in delivering a game-changing email security and security awareness training solution for MSPs,” said Blake Sallé, Chief Revenue Officer at Proofpoint. “Our collaboration signifies a commitment to empowering MSPs with the most advanced email security features while leveraging the robust capabilities of ConnectWise. Together, we are dedicated to equipping MSPs with the tools they need to provide unparalleled protection and value to their clients, setting a new standard in cybersecurity excellence.”

A Competitive Signal in the MSP Security Race

The move underscores how critical the MSP channel has become in the broader cybersecurity market. As SMBs continue to outsource IT operations, providers must defend increasingly complex environments against professional-grade attackers. By unifying awareness training, threat detection, compliance controls, and automation, ConnectWise and Proofpoint are betting that MSPs will embrace simplicity as much as security.

For MSPs already stretched thin, the promise of faster onboarding, stronger defenses, and lower operational costs may prove to be the differentiator that keeps customers secure and loyal in a competitive market.
