RecordPoint Acquires Redactive to Supercharge AI Data Governance Expansion

RecordPoint, the Australian-born data governance company trusted by global banks and regulators, has snapped up Redactive, a rising star in AI-driven data discovery and classification. The acquisition, announced October 21, underscores the rapid convergence of AI innovation and enterprise-grade data governance as organizations grapple with managing explosive data growth under tightening compliance regimes.

AI for the Era of Data Deluge

Founded just 18 months ago, Redactive made waves by building an enterprise-grade AI engine capable of identifying and classifying sensitive data at scale—a task that has traditionally required armies of compliance officers. Its rapid ascent, backed by investors such as Blackbird, Felicis, Atlassian Ventures, and Zapier, and marquee clients like HESTA and PEXA, caught the attention of RecordPoint, whose own customers include Westpac, NAB, Macquarie, APRA, ASIC, and even the City of New York.

“With over 8 million pieces of data moving through our platform per day, RecordPoint is now handling more data transactions than the NASDAQ,” said Anthony Woodward, CEO of RecordPoint. “Redactive’s solution will be instrumental as we look to bolster our capabilities with AI security and governance and continue to scale our operations.”

The acquisition positions RecordPoint to deepen its AI-driven compliance tools across financial services, government, and other data-heavy industries—domains where mismanaging information can carry staggering financial and reputational risk.

Expanding Horizons and Global Ambitions

While RecordPoint already commands a strong presence in Australia and North America, Woodward hinted that the company’s next phase of growth will stretch further afield. “The speed and precision with which the Redactive platform was built made it an ideal candidate for our plans for future growth,” he said. “While there’s still room to grow in both the US and Australia, we’re eager to bring RecordPoint’s solution into new markets in Asia and Europe.”

That ambition reflects a broader trend among data governance firms: the need to integrate AI-native solutions to automate compliance, reduce human error, and navigate increasingly complex privacy regulations from the EU’s GDPR to emerging AI legislation.

Australia’s Growing AI Moment

For Redactive, the acquisition marks a milestone not just for the company but for Australia’s fast-evolving AI sector. “This deal marks one of the first acquisitions of an AI-powered enterprise solution in Australia. It shows just how quickly AI is speeding up the pace of business,” said Alex Valente, Redactive’s co-founder.

He added, “RecordPoint is the ideal partner to scale Redactive's impact globally. Anthony and his team see the value of what we've built, and it's exciting to see the Redactive platform continue to be deployed in production across RecordPoint's financial services customers in Australia and the US.”

As the founders prepare to announce their next AI venture, the acquisition underscores how the lines between data governance, security, and AI innovation are increasingly blurring—reshaping not just how enterprises manage data, but how they define trust itself in the digital era.
