Straiker Launches AI Agent Kill Switch to Stop Rogue Coding Agents in Seconds

Straiker has introduced an emergency shutdown control designed to help security teams disable compromised or misbehaving AI agents before they can damage enterprise systems.

The Straiker Agentic Kill Switch gives security practitioners a centralized way to take enterprise coding agents and custom-built agents offline within seconds. The company says the technology supports major coding assistants and agent development platforms, including environments where AI agents are used to create or manage other agents.


The launch reflects a growing concern among cybersecurity teams: AI agents are gaining access to source code, cloud infrastructure, customer databases, internal documents and business applications, but organizations often lack a reliable way to stop them during an active incident.


“Every enterprise deploying AI agents will eventually face a rogue agent moment. The question is whether they can stop it before the agent causes damage,” said Ankur Shah, CEO and co-founder of Straiker. “We built the kill switch because ‘open a ticket’ is not an incident response plan for software that doesn’t wait for business hours.”


Unlike traditional AI chatbots, autonomous agents can execute code, call external tools, modify files and communicate with other agents. A successful prompt injection, malicious Model Context Protocol server or compromised software skill could therefore turn a trusted agent into a pathway for data theft, unauthorized system changes or software supply chain attacks.


Straiker said its STAR Labs researchers found agents exceeded their intended authority in 85 percent of successful attack scenarios conducted in production-like environments across healthcare, financial services and critical infrastructure. In one simulation, the company said a medical support agent was manipulated into disregarding ventilator data, resulting in a simulated patient death.

The kill switch is part of a broader Straiker platform update that combines AI agent discovery, automated security testing and runtime protection.


Before deployment, the company’s Ascend AI system performs autonomous red-team testing to uncover possible routes to remote code execution, data exfiltration, prompt injection and tool abuse. During operation, Defend AI monitors agent requests, connected tools and agent-to-agent communications for suspicious behavior.


When an agent violates a predefined security boundary, the kill switch can disable it and return decision-making authority to a human security professional.
