Teramind Unveils AI Governance Platform as Enterprises Struggle to Control Agentic AI

As artificial intelligence becomes embedded across enterprise workflows, organizations are facing a new problem that many security leaders did not anticipate. Employees and developers are rapidly adopting AI tools faster than governance policies can keep up.
This week, workforce analytics and user behavior monitoring company Teramind announced a new platform designed to address that growing visibility gap. The company says its new system is the first enterprise platform built specifically to monitor and govern the use of AI tools and autonomous agents across the modern workplace.
The platform, called Teramind AI Governance, aims to give security and compliance teams a centralized way to observe how AI is being used inside organizations, from conversational assistants to autonomous AI agents capable of executing tasks.
“The answer isn't less AI. It's governed AI. Teramind gives organizations the confidence to say yes,” said Isaac Kohen, Chief Product Officer at Teramind.
The Hidden Spread of AI Inside Companies
The launch reflects a growing concern across the cybersecurity and enterprise technology industry. AI adoption is accelerating inside companies, often without formal oversight from IT or security teams.
Internal research from Teramind found that more than 80 percent of employees now use unapproved AI tools while working. Roughly one third of workers reported sharing proprietary information with external AI platforms. Nearly half admitted they intentionally hide their AI usage from IT teams.
Those trends are occurring at the same time that companies are rapidly expanding AI deployments. Research from Deloitte indicates worker access to AI tools increased by 50 percent during 2025. Meanwhile, McKinsey reports that nearly a quarter of organizations have already begun deploying autonomous AI agents that can independently execute tasks.
For many organizations, that combination creates a new category of security and compliance risk.
“This isn't a technology gap - it's a governance gap,” Kohen said.
A New Layer of AI Oversight
Teramind’s platform is designed to give enterprises visibility into how AI tools are used across the workforce without requiring additional infrastructure or endpoint deployments.
According to the company, the system can capture prompts and responses generated through widely used AI platforms including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and developer tools such as Claude Code. It also attempts to identify “shadow AI,” tools used by employees without company approval.
The platform records prompt histories, AI responses, and autonomous agent activity while also capturing visual evidence through screen recordings and optical character recognition. This allows security teams to reconstruct AI activity during audits or investigations.
The system also tracks the behavior patterns of AI tools running inside enterprise environments. Instead of relying solely on signatures or application identification, it analyzes how processes behave in order to detect unsanctioned AI usage.
This approach reflects a broader shift toward behavioral monitoring as organizations struggle to track rapidly evolving AI applications.
The Security Risks of Autonomous AI
Agentic AI systems are particularly challenging for enterprises because they can execute multiple actions in rapid succession.
According to Teramind’s insider risk team, AI related data exposure incidents already cost organizations more than $650,000 per breach on average. That risk grows as AI systems gain the ability to autonomously perform tasks such as writing code, accessing internal data, and interacting with business systems.
The company notes that roughly half of developers now use AI coding assistants every day. Autonomous agents can execute hundreds of commands in less than a minute, which dramatically increases the speed at which mistakes or data leaks can occur.
That scale creates a new challenge for traditional monitoring tools, which were designed to track human activity rather than automated AI workflows.
Compliance Pressure Is Rising
Regulatory pressure is also driving interest in AI governance platforms.
Teramind says the system automatically generates continuous audit trails aligned with major compliance frameworks including SOX, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, CMMC, and the European Union’s AI Act.
As enterprises expand the use of generative AI and autonomous agents, compliance teams increasingly need visibility into how AI interacts with corporate data and decision making systems.
Analysts expect governance and observability platforms to become a critical part of enterprise AI infrastructure as organizations scale AI deployments across departments.
The shift signals a broader reality for the AI era. The biggest challenge may not be building intelligent systems. It may be understanding what those systems are actually doing inside the enterprise.
