Aware Introduces Cutting-Edge Risk Assessment Calculator for Governance, Risk, and Compliance

Aware, a leading AI Data Platform specializing in collaboration governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), has unveiled a groundbreaking Risk Assessment Calculator, garnering attention for its innovation in addressing digital workplace security. This advanced tool empowers IT, compliance, and risk teams to assess and mitigate risks within collaboration data effectively.

Collaboration platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Workplace from Meta have become essential, with over 18 trillion messages sent in 2022 alone. However, these platforms introduce risks stemming from human interactions that may involve sensitive or harmful information sharing.

The Risk Assessment Calculator, the latest addition to Aware's suite of solutions, equips organizations to enhance their risk and compliance posture. It leverages contextual intelligence, providing insights into risks within digital workplace conversations.

Backing this calculator is the 2023 Risk Awareness Benchmark report, a result of extensive research conducted using AwareIQ, their AI-powered platform. This research examined over 6.6 billion anonymous collaboration messages, revealing critical insights:

  1. Collaboration tools are now central to enterprise workflows, with 15.4% of messages originating from integrated third-party applications.

  2. Password detection has improved, with only 1 in 5,000 messages containing passwords, compared to 1 in 262 in 2018. However, screenshot sharing, likely containing sensitive data, has increased.

  3. Customer data, including PII, PHI, and PCI, is prevalent in collaboration platforms, with 37% of messages containing such data.

  4. Insider threats are on the rise, especially in private channels, where 1 in 17 messages contains multiple pieces of sensitive data. Additionally, 1 in 71 messages is negative, and 1 in 95 is toxic, posing challenges for workplace culture. ###
