In a world where phishing kits are sold like SaaS products and deepfake impersonations have become a business risk, Doppel wants to be the digital bodyguard enterprises didn’t know they needed. Today, the AI-powered social engineering defense company announced a $35 million Series B round, bringing its total funding to $54.4 million and pushing its valuation to $205 million.
Led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from 9Yards Capital, Sozo Ventures, and returning investors including Andreessen Horowitz and South Park Commons, the round underscores growing investor confidence in Doppel’s AI-first approach to an age-old problem: humans remain the weakest link in cybersecurity.
“Doppel is quickly emerging as the market leading social engineering defense company by leveraging its proprietary AI-powered approach that is critical in today’s environment as these new threats become increasingly sophisticated for corporation’s brands, executives and employees,” said Elliott Robinson, partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. “We’ve been blown away by the company’s rapid growth and product efficacy in curbing the hyper-personalized attacks that challenge their customers.”
In a cyber landscape where threat actors exploit every digital channel—from spoofed email domains and fake social profiles to malicious apps and lookalike websites—Doppel’s Vision platform aims to stitch visibility across them all. Think of it as an AI-powered sentinel scanning the horizon for digital impersonations and disinformation campaigns, then proactively dismantling them before they land in a C-suite inbox or erode public trust.
The company’s results since its Series A in January 2024 are hard to ignore: a 400% surge in enterprise customers, tripling annual recurring revenue, and an eightfold increase in expansion revenue from existing clients. With a 230% compound annual growth rate since 2022, Doppel isn’t just scaling—it’s accelerating.
At the heart of its platform lies a powerful blend of large language models and human expertise. By training AI agents on thousands of real-world decisions made by cybersecurity analysts, Doppel claims it has created an autonomous system capable of detecting nuanced social engineering threats and neutralizing them at scale. In its early deployment, the system reportedly doubled the productivity of the company’s operations team—a milestone it hopes to surpass with upcoming releases.
The startup’s ambitions extend beyond mere impersonation takedowns. Its partnership with security consultancy Secure Consult signals a broader vision: integrating Doppel’s AI capabilities into holistic executive protection and corporate risk management strategies.
“At Secure Consult, we view Executive Protection not just as a service, but as a cornerstone of modern risk management,” said David M. Gordon, CEO and Founder of Secure Consult. “Our transformative partnership with Doppel allows us to stay ahead of emerging threats, delivering real-time, intelligence-driven solutions that span the entire threat lifecycle—from discovery to resolution.”
With cybercriminals leveraging AI to craft ever-more believable attacks, Doppel’s leadership believes it’s not enough to respond reactively.
“We’re really excited to partner with Bessemer Venture Partners, a firm that understands what it takes to build a generational, category-defining company,” said Kevin Tian, CEO of Doppel. “We’ll use these funds to double down on our core products, serve the rapidly growing demand from enterprises across all sectors, and build the first social engineering defense platform.”
The company’s next challenge? Scaling its technology fast enough to keep pace with adversaries who are also evolving—armed with the same AI tools. Doppel’s bet is that the best defense is an AI offense that’s smarter, faster, and already watching.
