Lineaje Launches Dedicated Federal Unit to Fortify U.S. Software Supply Chain Security Amid Rising Threats

In a strategic move responding to surging cyber risks targeting federal software infrastructure, Lineaje, a leader in full-lifecycle software supply chain security, has announced the formation of Lineaje Federal — an independently operated business unit focused exclusively on protecting the U.S. public sector.

As attacks on software supply chains triple globally since 2021, with Gartner projecting 45% of organizations will face such breaches by year-end, the public sector has become a prime target. High-profile incidents like the XZ Utils compromise of open-source federal projects and the Ivanti breach that incapacitated CISA reveal the vulnerability of government digital assets.

Lineaje Federal aims to meet these escalating challenges by delivering tailored solutions that provide unprecedented transparency and trust at every software development stage — from source code to deployment. This includes automated vulnerability remediation and compliance with evolving mandates like the software bill of materials (SBOM), essential for federal cybersecurity resilience.

“The Federal government is at a crossroads with its approach to secure software development. Nation-state adversaries have the will and ability to infiltrate and exploit software supply chains with the eventual goal of compromising sensitive networks,” said Sarn G. Bien-Aime, CEO and founder of Asc3nd Technologies Group. “Lineaje Federal brings the right combination of people, technologies, and expertise to help technology leaders across the U.S. Federal Government identify, assess, and mitigate risks in the software supply chain. We're honored to collaborate with Lineaje Federal to ensure the government is delivering secure software at the speed of mission that is protected from constantly evolving threats.”

Lineaje Federal’s credibility in the defense sector is already underscored by several government contracts, including a $1.8 million SBIR and STTR Phase II award from AFWERX, the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force. Additionally, Lineaje’s involvement in the Army’s ASA(ALT) pilot program seeks to create a centralized reference architecture for SBOM generation and risk management — a model anticipated to scale across defense acquisition.

“The ASA(ALT) pilot and recent SBIR award served as key catalysts for the creation of Lineaje Federal, reinforcing the need for dedicated resources, tailored capabilities, and a focused strategy to meet the unique security and compliance demands of U.S. federal agencies,” stated Anand Revashetti, CTO and Co-Founder of Lineaje. “The pilot is more than a proof of concept; it’s a potential blueprint for how the Department of Defense can operationalize software supply chain risk management at scale. By enabling the Army to centrally generate, manage, and act on SBOM data, we’re not only helping fulfill critical policy mandates but also laying the foundation for trusted, repeatable processes that other agencies can adopt.”

Beyond operational deployments, Lineaje Federal is actively shaping national cybersecurity standards through participation in key government working groups such as CISA’s SBOM Working Groups and the AIBOM Tiger Team, influencing the integration of software transparency and AI security policies.

Engineered to meet stringent federal security frameworks like NIST SSDF, Zero Trust, and Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management (C-SCRM), Lineaje Federal’s platform supports deployment in diverse environments, including cloud and air-gapped systems — a critical capability for government operations.

“As threat actors seek to penetrate the software that runs our national defenses and exploit sensitive data, securing it becomes not just critical, it’s urgent. This is why we launched Lineaje Federal,” said Javed Hasan, CEO and Co-founder of Lineaje and Lineaje Federal. “With this launch, we will continue to grow our federal team, deepen existing partnerships with government integrators, and invest in long-term innovation.”

With the launch of Lineaje Federal, the company positions itself as a pivotal player in safeguarding the software foundations of U.S. government agencies, reinforcing national security at a time when software supply chain threats are more complex and frequent than ever.
