Rubrik Acquires Predibase to Supercharge Agentic AI With Production-Ready Simplicity

In a move aimed at collapsing the distance between AI experimentation and enterprise-scale deployment, Rubrik announced its agreement to acquire Predibase, a rapidly growing startup known for its fine-tuning infrastructure for open source models. The deal signals Rubrik’s ambition to not only secure AI data but also operationalize generative and agentic AI across industries with speed and governance at its core.

While financial terms were not disclosed, the acquisition underscores the high value placed on making AI both accessible and production-ready—something most enterprises still struggle to achieve.

Bridging the Gap from Prototype to Production

The average AI project dies on the vine. Gartner reports that over 50% of AI initiatives never make it out of the proof-of-concept phase, often due to a perfect storm of model performance issues, opaque data pipelines, runaway infrastructure costs, and inconsistent governance.

Predibase, founded by ex-Google and Uber machine learning engineers, has built its name on solving precisely this problem. Its proprietary stack enables developers to fine-tune foundation models and serve them through a “turbo” inference engine, reportedly delivering 2x performance gains and significant infrastructure savings. The platform’s open-source LoRA eXchange further enables personalized model deployment at scale—without blowing the budget.

“We created Predibase to lift the barriers between an idea and production-ready AI,” said Devvret Rishi, Predibase’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Today, many organizations still face challenges moving beyond the proof-of-concept stage… This unlocks more accurate results and faster models, all at lower cost.”

A Strategic AI Stack for the Next Enterprise Phase

Rubrik, traditionally known for its cloud data security platform, is now positioning itself as a foundational layer for secure, scalable AI deployment. With enterprise AI adoption increasingly dependent on robust data controls and security postures, Rubrik sees agentic AI as a natural next frontier.

“What the Predibase team has achieved with model training and serving infrastructure in the last few years is nothing short of remarkable,” said Bipul Sinha, Rubrik’s CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder. “Together, Rubrik and Predibase will drive agentic AI adoption around the world and unlock immediate value for our customers.”

The acquisition will complement Rubrik’s existing work with large AI ecosystems like Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and Google’s Agentspace. It also reinforces Rubrik’s emphasis on secure data access—one of the most cited hurdles in AI deployment—by combining security and performance optimization in one unified platform.

Looking Ahead: Agentic AI at Scale

With GenAI models moving beyond chatbots into task-oriented agents that autonomously execute business workflows, the importance of finely-tuned, efficient, and secure models is growing exponentially. This acquisition gives Rubrik an edge in serving enterprises that want to adopt AI agents without sacrificing compliance, performance, or budget.

While the transaction is still subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions, its implications are already resonating. Rubrik is making a clear bet: the future of enterprise AI doesn’t just depend on smarter models—it hinges on delivering them faster, cheaper, and with built-in trust.

In the fast-maturing AI arms race, simplifying the leap from lab to live may be Rubrik’s most strategic play yet.
